Photos updated!

This is the latest addition to my house, a Hitachi 42" Full HD LCD TV, together with a mini home theatre system. Homo Sapiens are quite a suckers for technology fashion even though we can't operate it very well. Owning it is just to add some "face" to it I suppose. Nonetheless, it's damn cool! Dad's latest "baby"! He doesn't tolerate any boo-boo to it. That's why we moved it to this space, away from the kitchen.
That tiny little player has so many functions that I do not know where to start decribing it. It's a radio, a DVD player, a hi-fi controlling the stereo blah blah blah.
So not used to the people, they looked so wide!

Pity the old Toshiba tv, kenna downgraded in its postition in the family, and had to continue to suffer the hot air from the kitchen. Nvm, we still like you, just don't explode like the previous Sony. (Yesh, Sony exploded, not those huge kind, but the circuit inside exploded and there was smoke. We do utilise devices to their deaths.)

This is the faithful old waredrobe that has been serving my parents' clothes for 20 years. But it was already beyond repair and had actually cracked under the heavy weight of those clothes. So Mum cajoled Dad to buy a new one and he agreed! =)

This is the flight of stairs that we shifted the old waredrobe up. It's tiring siah... I was telling Mum we could set up a futniture moving company and lose weight at the same time. LOL.

JOTD: Jamie was searching for Jia, funnily, Jia was nowhere to be found. The exasperated Jamie said rather sacarstically, "我们的家不是很大, 为什么那么长 (Jia is tallest in our family ) 的人都找不到?"

Obviously, she needed some heavy tuition in her Mandarin.

Learning Japanese

Min was using an old exercise book which was used by Jia to learn Japanese course back in 1996, where she was going to Japan, Sendai with the school for home exchange.

While I was helping her to source the internet for research, Min asked, "大姐, 你有没有学Japanese?"

Yes, I replied.

The nosey her continued, "Then 你有没有去日本?"

I answered No.

"为什么你有 learn Japanese but 没有去日本?"

Dejected, I answered, "二姐当年学日语是因为要去日本,我学日语是因为我当年没得去日本。" It was a learning to 弥补当年的遗憾。

"10 Course Action Pack Dinner"

  1. Cook Dinner - deep frying battered prawns

  2. Washing Bowls

  3. Relocate new TV console - had to move from outside to inside

  4. Sort out messy wires - new TV comes with a home theatre system with 5 speakers and 1 sub-woofer, wires wires wires

  5. Relocate old TV back to the #1 TV console (oldest console), it was on #2 console (2nd oldest)

  6. Fix the DVD player, VCR player to the old TV, which includes troubleshooting

  7. Sort wires again

  8. Throw out Mum's waredrobe, we 3 women actually moved it UP. Tired siah

  9. Vacuum the floor

  10. Wash clothes

Whoever thinks I get to have a good rest time at home is 大错特错 siah, which includes me. I thought I was back to teach Jamie how to do her environment project, nuaed a bit since I had been chionging report and stayed up very late, ended up doing all those chores and bath at 1am? Thanks goodness for the new water heater.

Homesick? Spinster?

I drifted to dreamland after a phone chat with Jia. In my dream, I was at home and sleeping on Min's bed. When I woke up and looked out of the window, I saw Mum, Jia and Min coming home from the market and they saw me peering from the window, so they waved at me. Min was running happily and yelling, "Da Jie!!!"

Wah biang, a phone call could trigger such homesick-like dream.

As to why I haven't been updating, well, nothing interesting happened when cooped in a room 24/7 rushing report. My topsy-turvy lifestyle could be considered interesting: Slept at 6am on Thursday morning, which led to a 12 hours concussion. So after that I worked through the night, half doing report, half watching rerun of Sister Act, and set for school at 8am on Fri. When the lesson ended at 4pm, I was already partial dead with a hungry stomach. I bought dinner, gobbled it, and went to sleep at 6pm. I woke up at 10pm, which I nuaed until 1am, did a bit of report until 9am, Saturday. Then I spent the rest of the day watching "Cheaper by the Dozen" and "Cheaper by the Dozen 2" and report (when the mood came) until 4am. I forced myself to sleep. I woke up at 11 today, not so bad, but I went to nap at around 2pm. -_-" There was a heavy rain and a huge thunder which shook my bed, probably it was me who trembled.

"用功一点!", these four words had been ringing in my ears ever since I started panic over my FYP. It was said by that special someone AKA "Dream Boyfriend" sometime last year. I don't regret not being hardworking, I just hated my procrastination and my confidence that I could do it. I can be hardworking when the need arise, like now, rushing my ass off. Ha...

Anyway, another interesting dream about Dream BF, he gave me a rose!!! Ha ha... But I prefer white lilies. As a matter of fact, I'm rather worried I would become Ally McBeal's teacher (not too sure if it was high school's), who was a spinster in real life, but she had fantasized another life in her dream. She met a wondeful guy, they got married, they have kids, they grew old together, they even have sex, all in her dreams. Now, this sounds scary. My dream is getting progressive bit by bit, just like the teacher.

Tsk tsk tsk. Siao liao.

Speaking about getting old, my skin turned quite bad after these few days of nonsensical sleep. I was complaining to Jia in the phone, who happily offered an optimistic view, "Do it a few more times then you will be as mature as me!" FYI, I've always been deemed as the "younger" one because of my baby face, which I think is on the deteoriating process.

Thanks ah.

Other than report, movies, research, I also went to a few beauty & cosmetics website after I saw the Maybeline's e-zine to check out the some products. I'm now at the age where I must consider using anti-aging.

Oh Gosh!

Msning

Msning with Jia had never been much more happier, especially today. While she used to tempt me what they had for dinner, and where had they been for good food, she updated me on the latest add-on to our house.

Dad bought a Full HD LCD TV with home stereo; they are rewiring the the electrical sockets; and the most exciting of all...

We are going to have a water heater! My angel must have been reading my blog and psychoed Dad to install. No more cold shower!

Whoot!

Latest RealPlayer

Quick, go download it and install! It can help to download those movies online, like from youtube.com or youku.com!

Wah ha ha, not only can I save money from buying VCDs or DVDs, I can watch myself to death with those old old movies like Beethoven, Sister Act, or serials like Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural and Desperate Housewives!

No more irritating buffering! And I can concentrate on doing my things now!

Colour Award Board

Colour Award Board is an annual ceremony where they gave pretty certs for us, and also to give out the medals to the players who had fought hard during the Dec/Jan Inter-Hall Games.

I was being called down to receive my medal for Darts. After 3 years in Hall 9, the medal somehow marked an beautiful ending for me. Never mind the fact that I didn't help much in winning most of the games, lol.

Anyway, I was being tricked to watch the first 40 minutes of boring cert giveaways, coz my darts IC told me the medals would be given out first. When I reached the canteen (yeap, the ceremony was held there), EEE's Orlando Bloom was there as usual giving his long speech. I made myself comfortable in the middle of the second row. To make things perfect, OB's seat was right in front of me. So I sneaked a picture of him, for my future dart board.

Right after the shot, he was invited to go up and give out the medals and darts was first team, -_-" Nice moment.

FYI, he is our infamous prof in EEE. The students hated him, the other profs loathed him, I think the dean is scared of him. See? His backview is scary enough.

If the chair is alive, it's probably cursing and swearing OB.

You must be wondering why he is the "Orlando Bloom" of EEE when his back view showed 0% similarity, less the front view right? Students sabohed and voted him lor.

Okie, enuff of him. I just found a perfect use for my medal: use as compact mirror.

I should do a post on my trophies and medals one of these days, relish the fond memories behind them. =)

I think I woke up the wrong side of bed...

Eh... Can't be, coz my bed is against the wall, there's only one side for me to snuggle in. Anyway, it's been a weirdo day for me.

  • I woke up wondering how come my sweater is on the chair? I had worn it to sleep last night because weather was cold. Couldn't remember waking up at night to remove it.

  • I fell down twice, while running up a flight of stairs (about 15 steps) to chase the shuttle buses. Chipped my toenails, again. Luckily another bus came and I was the only passenger, so it was a smooth and speedy ride to my lesson. Blessing in disguise?

  • Got a new mechanical pencil from dunno where, exact same model same colour with the one I always use. My angel gave me? Ha ha, must put up notice who lost their pencil, is so new until I felt bad I might have put it into my pencil case unknowingly.

  • I thought I would get to leave early today, but I kenna a lecturer who was speeching more than lecturing, if you get what I mean. She was looking at her own notes and reading it out text by text, like dictation. She didn't even look up and had eye contact with us, not that I wanna see her eyes. The typical kind of female gaining attention in the wrong way, exactly the same pattern as my Sec. 3 form teacher.
  • The 3D animation workshop was a flop, most people left halfway, I left after 3/4 of the lesson to catch the last bus.

Haiz... Need to get a pair of covered shoes to protect my delicate feet.

Typical Singaporean

I was going to buy lunch in Canteen B when the fire alarm ranged crazily. Most of the people just tuned to the direction where the sound came from, then they navigated their heads around to check out any fire or smoke.

Probably most of us got so used to the fire drills we had during primary, secondary and maybe JC, in this situations where the fire alarm did activate due to a fire, maybe a small one, our instincts had been fine tuned to tell us this: "Probably wrong activation of the alarm" or "No smoke around, small fire niah". So, they continued their daily pilgrimage to the canteen.

真是不见棺材不掉泪, ha ha.

Ashamed to say, I was one of them. For me, it was more of "monkey see, monkey do", nobody was in panick, nobody to tell us to move to a safety location, NOBODY to tell us to do ANYTHING. Even if I had to run, let me tabao my lunch first, provided the aunties were still there scooping the rice and veggies.

So typical Singaporean hor, we need to see the arrow before we do anything.

Doggie

A friend's dog passed away, or rather was forced to put to sleep coz he was in pain and there was no way to save him.

Why am I writing this?

Doggie was one of the few pet dogs among my friends. As a dog lover myself, it was really a pleasure to hang out with a friend who kept a dog. I remembered how I used to travel to AMK to my friend's house, and then we would bring Doggie to Bishan Park Dog Run area, every Saturday, just because I wanted to play with the dog.

I remembered how he always drooled and licked at us, pant after a run, jumped up so that he could reach us, lovable. As a hot-blooded young male, he humped on PZ's legs, the only suay one. LOL.

Despite having not seen Doggie since Poly, my heart ached when I knew about his pain; my heart cried when I learned about his death.

It's really unfathomable how time can be so cruel, peeling off layer by layer, slice by slice, slowly and unknowingly. Only when Death is summoned, then we realise the Death is unavoidable, and it left painful memory for the live ones to slowly feed on until their own deaths.

I had never been good at consoling people, especially on someone's death. However, Doggie was once part of my life, giving me the comfort of having a dog, except that I did not have to clean his shit. So somehow, I shared the same pain and wanted to comfort Erica (Doggie's owner), knowing she still sobbing over his death. She told me how heartbreaking she had to put him to sleep, feeling like she had a part to play in his death, how useless she had been unable to save him. She couldn't stop thinking about him and yet she couldn't stand the pain of knowing he was gone, hoping to forget him would save her from the agony. I told her:

"Hey... Take care, Doggie must be glad that you all were with him when he was gone. I truly understand your heartache, 13 years of love just gone like that. Life without him suddenly will be different, but as the old(I actually smsed orhbiang to try cheer her up) saying goes, time will heal the pain. You won't be able to forget him. He will rest peacefully in a corner of your heart. You felt that his death was worse than a person's, that because he's dear to you, and a family member. The healing is going to be a slow and painful journey, but you'll get over it. At least Doggie had gave you beautiful memories for you to think of him. Asking to cheer up is no useful now, instead, cry when you think of him. This way, the tears will dried up, rise and go to him. He's definitely in heaven waiting to receive your tears."

Sounded corny, but they were sincere words. I did wish he did not have to go in such a way.

7 deadly sins

If my father and his brothers were to be one of the 7 deadly sins, the one before my father is definitely Sloth! Uncle Sloth shall be his honorific title.

He did a good job pissing me off. My parents and I were busy in the kitchen cooking a feast for the relatives, coz of the windfall my Dad received, so we had it at home instead of a treat outside. I politely declined to eat dinner at the same table even though there was vacancy for me to fit in, but because I had been in the kitchen for almost 6 hours, I smell stinked like an overused wok, so it's best for me to continue hiding in the kitchen.

When all the elders were persuading me to eat at the table, Uncle Sloth was the only one happily yakking: 你不要吃啦!减肥!减肥!

TMD, 要减肥早减了,no need for me to starve myself hungry and see u all eating happily my hardwork. He should consider dieting instead.

What I done today (sat)

Woke up at 11am to go lunch with Jia and Min, we went to Hoagies again. =) Due to the lack of western food in Can 9, I've been eating western food on thurs dinner and today's lunch. A bit of good food to motivate myself, but then Jia offered to pay for the lunch, so she almost heart-attack when she saw the bill, $44.20 for 3 persons. I ate away close to $20 myself. :P

Then I went shop a bit in Khatib area with Min, seriously, due to lack of exercise in the splurge-control dept in my brain, I just bought things on impulse. Usually after the impulse expense, I would feel guilty and poor, but then, I felt happy and light-hearted instead. I think this short shopping is doing me some good to alleviate my stress level, heh heh.

Shopping cut short when Min & I need a toilet break desperately.

After the hype in moving into a new room, and some mess organising, I have to gear up for tmr's feast as helpers.

I hope they dun stay too long.

Laziness & Procrastination

Is there a link between them or are they the same?

Is it "I'm lazy that's why I procrastinate" or "I procrastinated and hence I'm lazy"?

If I'm lazy, then will I be lazy to procrastinate and if I don't procrastinate, will I not be lazy to work?

Hmm...

We definitely weren't lazy just now, but I did procrastinate. We managed to move my dressing table, my bed and my rosewood-like cabinet to the next room, and moved the PC table with old PC, the file cabinet to my room.

I even moved my clothes to the wardrobe in my new room. Hope I won't get any weird dreams from all these movings.

Will blog about it if I do dream of anything interesting... Maybe dream of a plumber with very nice strong arms or mover with six-packs on his abs. LOL.

Skating and dreaming

Aiyah, forgot to take the photo from SF just now during lunch. Too engrossed in my story telling again, wah ha ha ha.

Went to sleep last with cramp-like feelings in my legs, woke up with aching pain in the whole body. Quite a kick-feeling, except that pain in my butt: Fell down like 7 times yesterday during skate outing, and I was like slowest skater already. I was trembling when I went down my first slope with an inclination of like 25 degrees, I was rolling down so fast that I got quite scared that I straightened my back which I was not supposed to, and there I go, nicest fall of all with legs snapped up before they dropped back to the ground.

Just realised, I trembled skating down a slope that was like 10cm high under my feet, and I get high going down on a roller coaster. Ha, weird me.

I'm supposed to write my report and do my fyp after lunch, but I ended msning with Jia for almost 2 hours. Better quickly get all the shit done before I nua at home for 2 days.

I had this really really weird dream, I can't remember the whole thing, anyway, the only thing I remembered was the feeling I got, it was so real, for a moment I thought I'm living in my dream, before the beep in my phone woke me up. As I tried to recall my dream, I did wish I could dream a little longer, coz the life I had in my dream is the exact piece I'm missing now: a boyfriend. Ha ha ha.

A bit embarassing to say it, but then, dun care lah, the whole world knew my 24th birthday wish was to get a BF, wah ha ha ha. Anyway, it was this part where we hold hands for the first time; HOLD HANDS WITH A GUY LEH! It was so real until I tot I felt the warmth/coldness in his hands as we locked our fingers.

When I woke up and recalled the dream, and as I typed now, the logical part of me filed a perfect reason for this nonsense dream: There were a few helpful skaters holding my hands, or let me hold their wrists to help me skate yesterday, so I'm like having a hangover dream with these hand holding things, and probably explained why I tot I could feel the BF's warmth/coldness, because it was those skater's (cold because of sweaty wrists).

The dream is no longer a fantasy when I see the connection it had with real life, the good thing out of the dream: I saw the guy's face, heh heh. So can continue fantasize this little bit in my current screwed-up school life now. LOL.

Of money and room

Extra $200 from Dad again, shiok to the max! Luckily I'm stuck in school to do project, else I think the money will be gone in 3 days.

Probably gonna change feng shui (ala furniture shifting) tomorrow, since everyone is so hyped up! We will be rewiring the electrical sockets in our house, after 20 years! So must chope chope decide where we need the new sockets to be before the hype is over! (My procrastination inherited from my Dad lah, so... yah, ha ha ha)

Wah, I'm so gonna miss my current bedroom which has the most windows, so it's very windy at night, especially monsoon season. But then the room is gonna converted into a recreational room under Jia's proposal since we are moving that old-fashioned 29" tube tv into my room. Next time can play mahjong, play pc game, watch tv all in that room. =)

I'm thinking... maybe can ask him to install a water heater? Heh heh, then I can have a hot shower anytime I want le!!! Wah, I felt like we are moving house like that.

We got a new tv console, Mum got her new wardrobe, and we are getting a 42" LCD TV!!! Shuang to the max siah!

Maybe I should wish a 4D strike myself, then I can install the heater!!!

Must throw more things away. Coz 旧的不去,新的不来!Wah ha ha ha!

Dai Ji Si Beh Tua Tiao

Terrorist escaped from detention, in Singapore!

This is something which I believe many of us would not have expected, and probably didn't know there was a terrorist detained in Singapore.

Serious big case.

Feeling bugs in my stomach.

OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS!

I'm feeling bugs instead of butterflies in my stomach. I'm sensing the tension of the inability to complete project in time, less talk about perfection.

I had a 1 year schedule which I obviously did not follow dutifully.

My 1 week (9 days in fact, 2 sats and 2 suns) plan is screwed because of my procrastination.

And now my 5 days planned is screwed because of a last minute calling, HOW???

If the project demo is to be fixed on 2 April, I have exactly 35 days to complete it starting this midnight. Great...

35 days = 840 hours

6 more weeks of lessons - 90 hours

Sleep estimated to be 6 hrs per day - 210 hours (I think I have to drop it 5 or 4 already)

3 hours per day for travelling, eating, and bathing -105 hours

50% of tme is gone like that, maybe to make myself better, I have Sat and Sun, full time.

Gosh! May I tide this over. 20 man-days to complete my project. Probably need to outsource already.

This stills doesn't sound comforting as I have 1 more presentation, 2 assignments and 3 reports to do.

Shall go take a bath to calm myself down now.

Weekends gone

I'm not half as efficient as blogging as to other things. Just received a call (just as in 1 minute ago) from home that I was to be summoned back to be maid-in-waiting for Saturdays and Sundays.

My weekends is screwed.

容易受伤的女人 part 2

After my first lesson of skating, I had rather big orh-cheh on my left palm and aching left butt

After the second lesson, I had huge orh-cheh on my left knee and sprained joint on my right thumb

Plus a toilet-door cut on the orh-cheh on my left palm.

FYI, the knee bruise was caused by hitting on the edge of the gear, and the gears supposed to protect my knees.

Chor lor is my second name.
