Hair Loss

It's amazing how 2 months ago, I was still boasting that I hardly had any hair fall daily and I could feel my hair growing thicker.

2 months on, I lost almost 1/3 of the thickness by dropping almost 100 strands daily, after 2 weeks that's 2000 strands! May not seem a lot compared to the 100000 we have, but it's kinda visible...

I could see my scalp very clearly now and it kinda scares me! So I did a little research and I realised it could be a combination of wrong diet + lack of sleep + too much alcohol.

So for the whole year, or at least monitor for 3 months, I'm going to do the following and observe for any good results in growing my hair back:

  1. Cut down of caffeine and salt. I've been taking coffee daily and drinking those MSG soups in food centres
  2. Exercise regularly. Not too difficult since I'm already am.
  3. Sleep at least 8 hrs per day. Which means I have to KO by 10pm! Wow, this really left me with 1-2 hr of exercise only.
  4. Eat more protein. Woohoo, chicken salad anyone?
  5. Do oil treatment on hair at least once a week
  6. Avoid hair drying, combing wet hair or de-tangling unnecessary.
  7. Trim hair at least once every 3 months

The vitamins and supplements neede for healthy and thick hair are insane!

  1. Vitamin B-complex - 50 mg. of the major B-vitamins (including folate, biotin and inositol)
  2. Vitamin B-6 - 50 mg. of vitamin B-6
  3. Vitamin C with bioflavonoids - one to two grams daily
  4. Vitamin E - 400 to 800 IU daily
  5. Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of beta-carotene daily
  6. One recommended daily dose of magnesium, sulfur, zinc
  7. Silica (horsetail) - 300 mg. daily
  8. Nettle - 250 mg. three times daily
  9. Flaxseed oil -  one tbsp daily or one tablet
  10. Beta-Carotene - 10,000 to 15,000 IU of beta-carotene daily
See updates 3 months later! Attached pictures for proof later... Even a messy parting, my scalp is shown super clear! I find the thickness of the parting too thick! It wasn't used to be this way!

Patience...

I did it! I'm full of crazy!

I completed my first ever full marathon at SCMS 2012 today! Never felt prouder of myself. I targeted myself to complete at 6 hrs... which turned out to be quite a feat! My cousin who runs marathons regularly and has a super fit bod finished at that time. As for me, I started walking at ard 25km... all the way, until the last 150m. :P

Still, it was an accomplishment and if there should be a next time, I should really start prepping 6 months ago. It is really not easy! This time round, I managed to run for the first 10km without stopping, I am so happy even though my pace was like 7.30 mins per km, not my usual timing. However, it's 42km, need to conserve energy!

Run faster also means I can avoid the afternoon sun. I was wearing sunglasses, so I thought It didn't feel that hot. Wrong! My body now covers in the the latest fashion: colour blocks. As I wore knee guard, that part is totally safe from the sun.

Still, my legs are not as bad as the GE run, where I walked super fast. I was strolling during the path at Gardens  By The Bay.

The 42km is rather boring too, as about 16km is at East Coast. And after East Coast, we were at construction site. Imagine the smell. Bleah.

For now, I shall stick to 21km first. Till the day I can complete it within 2 hrs! Hah!

Now my stomach is like a bottomless pit. Ate bananas, bread, had dinner where I actually had 2 servings of rice. Still not satisfied! ^_^
