URun 2012

Joined my first 10km today! Better to start small steps first, 21km last year was a shame, clocking at 4 hrs! Anyway, my aim for today was 1.5 hrs, and I did it! My finishing time was 1.28mins! Woohoo! If I jogged all the way, maybe even 1 hr 15mins!

After the 6km mark, I was sprinting for 1min, and then brisk walked for 4 mins... and I stopped at every hydration point... considering all these rests... 1.5 is not bad already right?!?

My next coming run is 21km, and I aim to complete in 3hrs!

I can do it!

BodyFirst part 2

So I had my second lesson of BodyFirst last Monday. True to his words, my instructor gave me a set of see-easy-but-tough workouts.

I started with push up, 15 times.

Followed by this set, when I hold dumbells close towards my chest, then with one leg on step board, and I gotta butt push outwards, and push my arms in front. Woah!!!~~~!!!

The ball twist looked simple, but it was so strenuous following up after 5 times. All I had to do was to grab a ball, from my left side, I lifted it up and turned to my right, with my knees bent. -_-||| Almost gave up.

Then I had to throw punches in cruch position, high~~~

As  if the dumbell push wasn't enough, I had to do dumbbell arm raise with one leg raise!!!!

Last set was like paddling during swimming, except that I was doing it with face up and my legs in 45 degrees. Definitely good for those who wanna trim their tummy!

The amazing thing was, I started my cardio (10 minutes threadmill) before 2 sets of the above. Then when I went for cycling, I did one last set, it was easier than the first two. I thought that it would be tougher since my body is tired, but no, coz after building up the muscles during the first 2 sets, the muscles was there to help me in my last set. Interesting!

Having my last lesson tomorrow, I still not sure if I wanna get my PT Zin to continue. Coz like he said, it's expensive to hire a personal trainer. Haiz...

See how...

OMG, I'm still at work!

Well, I didn't stay until so late. I went for gym class before coming back to office, some stuff need to wait before I can continue working.

It's my own fault really, I had put in the wrong backup tape, hence, the backup didn't start until I came to office in the morning. And since the recent backup is taking 12 hrs to complete, so here I am, waiting for it to finish and change tape.

I loved my gym class! 原来body strengthening is so fun de! And pushing your body to work so hard, I felt happy too!

Hmm.. a list of what I did today:

1) My PT went through my physical checklist, and my aim. I want to jog correctly for my 10km marathon. 90minutes to complete 10km is achievable!

Usually, for different distance, the training program is also different. I might be wrong thouugh, can't really remember the weeks for 10km and 21km.
5km - 5 weeks
10km - 8 weeks (?)
21km - 12 weeks (?)
42km - 20 weeks

Of course, the earlier the better! I'm late for my 10km...

2) Then we tried the threadmill to see how I jog. I'm jogging at around 6km/hr. My PT, Zin said my jogging method is quite ok, except that I need to lift up my knee more, so that I don't strain so much.

3) Here comes the best part, I need strength training. I laid down on the floor, with dumbells on both hands. My legs were raised 90 degrees with knees bend. There, I had to do 2 sets of 15 each of wide chest lift, straight arm lift and raise arm lift. YOu might not know what I'm talking, so I show you the pictures. (To be added)

4) Followed by squats, with the assistance of 2kg ball. Then I had to stand on one leg and lift the ball repeatedly.

5) I did 1 minute planking, almost died. Followed by crunches and leg lift 45 degrees. When I did the second planking, I had to lift one leg up, I died on the spot. ha ha.

That's all I did, but my legs are still shaking a bit lo... I just burned 600kcal.

Oh yah, for my weight, 1kg is 4500kcal. Time to stop popping bak hu rolls into my mouth. :P

I'm back to square one...

This is a good thing, after 3 months of sheer hard work, I lost 6kgs and that brought me back to my lightest since 13yo, 74!!! You all had no idea how pleased I was and how much more determined I am to shake 4 more kgs off by end of year!

My face is sharper, my pants are looser, even my feet is getting slimmer! I had a great sense of satisfaction when I pulled my belt, seeing the marks shifted in more the right every month! Shiok to the max!

I'm so in love with my body right now, but I know I can do better!

While in Korea I can't really jog, it is a good time for my body to relax a bit before making final dashes towards 21km in Dec!!!!

30", here I come!!!

I have a free gym instructor

I have really helpful friends! A guy was giving me tips on how to slim down my frame, train my stamina and reduce the size of my carrot legs!!!

To slim down frame: Circuit training. Dash 100m, rest 1 min (cool down), and dash 100m again. Repeat 4 times (That is 800m)

To train stamina and expand lungs for more air intake: breathe in through nose twice quickly and let it out through mouth.

To reduce my carrot legs: Need to apply a certain cream to convert the muscle to fat, and do leg raising exercise. Need more info on this and I'll update soon.

I believe this will work coz he used to be a trainer!!! Yeah! Free consultation!!!

Every km is a revelation

I believed it was my virgin 3.8km. The last long run was only one round that's all. Now I managed to pass the 3km milestone!!!

The 1st km, it was a breeze for me now, as I anticipated the ache.

By the 2nd km, I was trying to keep my breathing constant and make sure I don't pant too much. That way, I could really focus on my pace. My trick to keep myself breathing constantly was to breath in thru my mouth, and breathe out thru my nose. I could gulp more air this way.

When I reached the 3rd km, I told myself, the ache won't go away even if I stopped, so I just pushed myself to jog even more. I already reached my goal distance, but I want to run more. So I kept jogging, keeping at constant pace, until I reached the other entrance of Yishnn Park. By then, all the aches were like part of myself, and I could run jog further. However, i decided to stop, so that there's room for improvement. I don't to demoralise myself in the next run should I unable to attain the achieved record.

I am just so happy now, I love exercise!!!

Help!

That's the scream of my legs, back and arms. The Mega Combat is definitely one event I'm so gonna join again and again! It's so fun to do a mass workout with so many people!

The instructors were so energetic, and instructions were very clear, even a 70-yr old could follow! Because they try to do mirror image for the first timers, but I used to follow the same side, hence I was on diff sides with the rest most of the time. It wasn't until when they shout "Right" then I realised I was on the wrong side.

It was my first time joining Mega Combat, but I knew the kickboxing routine quite well, so it was quite similar except for the Taichi part, which got me really blur lah. Just any how water melon cut and catch my breathe at the same time.

I definitely going back again!

Denise Keller and the Manhunt winners joined us too, and seriously, the Manhunt winners were to pacify the ladies, coz 90% of the participants were ladies! Denise was the eye candy for the guys lor...

The emcee is cute looking too, but I forgot his name and I lost the brochure, oh well... [update: his name is Paul Foster].

Even before I start the combat, I was already half tired out by rushing from True Fitness to The Body Shop Sale and back to True Fitness to store my things. The walk itself was already 15 mins and I only had an hour. But it was good buy! Although I was still shocked at the amount. I thought it was going to be less then $80 lor. =)

Next is to train for my 21 km!!!
